GENERAL SANTOS CITY, Philippines — Agents arrested on Saturday a barangay chairman and three other high-value targets of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
The 44-year-old Radjik Aslaman Kudarat, chairman of Barangay Tinoto in Maasim town in Sarangani, and his accomplices, Romeo Dindamsali Gulam, 42, Junior Hailen, 40, and Rosatima Hailen, 40, are now in the custody of PDEA.
Gil Cesario Castro, PDEA’s director for Region 12, said on Sunday that all four of them will be charged for alleged violation of the Comprehensive dangerous drugs Act, which prohibits possession and trafficking of narcotics.
He said they will be charged too with illegal possession of firearms, found in their hideouts by raiding teams in a series of operations last Saturday.
The four suspects allegedly belong to the “Primo” drug syndicate, a large-scale distributor of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) in Sarangani province and in General Santos City.
Besides shabu, PDEA-12 agents and combined provincial and municipal police personnel also found three M-16 assault rifles, a .30-cal carbine, a .45-cal pistol and assorted ammunition in the raids.
Castro said the four alleged Primo gang members were arrested one after another on Saturday in raids assisted by the anti-crime Task Force Gensan, the Police Regional Office-12, the Army’s 27th Infantry Battalion, and officials of the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency.
Castro said he is grateful to members of the Sarangani provincial peace and order council and local officials in Maasim town for leading them to the hideouts of the four drug dealers.
