No leads in rent-sangla scam suspect’s slay
STA.ROSA CITY, Laguna, Philippines – Police have no leads yet in the killing of a suspect in a multimillion-peso car rental scam.
Superintendent Chitadel Gaoiran, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) spokesperson, said probers have yet to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive for the killing of Eleanor Rosales, 58.
Rosales, secretary of Rafaela Anunciacion, the alleged mastermind of the scam, was shot in front of her house on Zavalla street in Barangay Malusak, Sta. Rosa City, Laguna at around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Sources said the incident could be related to the cases filed against Rosales by the victims of the scam. Businessmen, policemen and local officials were among those allegedly duped by Anunciancion and her group into lending their vehicles which were later pawned.
Senior Superintendent Joel Jucutan, Highway Patrol Group-Calabarzon deputy director, said prior to the incident, they planned to file perjury charges against Rosales in response to the complaint she filed before the Office of the Ombudsman against the police officers who arrested her last month.
