PUP, PWU book WBL semis slots
MANILA, Philippines — Polytechnic University of the Philippines and the Philippine Women’s University marched into the semifinals of the 25-Under category with clean slates over the weekend in the 30th Women’s Basketball League (WBL) at the Xavier School gym.
MANILA, Philippines — The PUP belles drubbed University of the Philippines-Los Baños, 72-17, to move into the next round of Group A with three straight wins in this multi-level tournament organized by the Best Center, sponsored by Milo and supported by Rain or Shine, Chris Sports and Sklz.
They were joined by the cagebelles from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina (2-1), who clipped their rivals from the Taguig City University (0-3), 51-48, to also move into the semis.
The PWU ladies, meanwhile, claimed their fourth straight win and the semifinals slot in Group B with a 58-41 clobbering of De La Salle-College of St. Benilde combine (2-2).
They were joined by Our Lady of Fatima University (3-1), which demolished Assumption College (1-3), 61-42.
Chiang Kai Shek College moved a win away from sweeping the 13-U category with a 38-23 win over St. Pedro Poveda College (0-3).
Moving to the quarterfinals of the 18-U Developmental competitions are: Group A- Immaculate Conception Academy and St. Scholastica’s College-Marikina; Group B- St. James Academy and Jubilee Christian Academy; Group C- New Era College and St. Stephen High School; and Group D- Quezon City Academy and La Salle College -Antipolo.
