Knights repulse Titans in Martin Cup
MANILA, Philippines - Kier Quinto hit clutch baskets as Letran turned back AMA University, 76-75, in seniors play while San Beda-Alabang subdued St. Patrick School, 75-68, in juniors division of the 23rd Fr. Martin Cup summer basketball tournament at San Beda gym in Mendiola recently.
Quinto finished with only five points but his two charities in the last 9.9 seconds clinched it for the Knights, who improved to 4-1 in Group A of the cagefest backed by Armor on Sportswear.
Rey Nambatac and Jerrick Balanza scored 16 points each for Letran.
The Alabang Red Cubs, meanwhile, held sway to frustrate the St. Patrick School juniors, 75-68, then routed the Paco Citizen Academy Foundation side, 76-48, for back-to-back victories.
William Zuno tallied 23 points for the Red Cubs against St. Patrick while Marlon Mahilum took charge for Alabang-San Beda with 20 points against PCAF.
In other games, the National University Bulldogs scored a walkover win over Manuel L. Quezon University for its third win in Group B in seniors division while AMA bounced back with an 80-75 decision over Diliman College.
